Filipinos upbeat over new labour agreement

Dubai: Filipino residents say they are looking forward to a safer and more secure future as a result of a new decision stipulating that Filipino workers have to get their labour contracts accredited by the Filipino government before registering them at the Ministry of Labour. Antonio S. Curameng, Philippine Consul-General in Dubai, described the Memorandum of Understanding signed between his country and the UAE on Tuesday as a good one enhancing the cooperation between the two countries and said the initiative will prevent employers from changing conditions in contracts.
