Israel’s national flag is displayed beside Philippines’ national flag on the shore of the Dead Sea November 25, 2007. The two flags, both 100 meters-long (328 feet) and 200 meters wide (656 feet), were displayed together on Sunday to mark 50 years of relations between the two countries, a spokesperson at the Israeli Tourism Ministry said. The Israeli flag, which took 3 weeks to sew and weighs about 5,200 kg (11,464 lbs), was financed by Philippine businesswoman Sister Grace Galindez-Gupana and will compete for a title in the Guinness Book of Records. http://thepinoy.net/?p=1003

‘No smoking’ in Dubai malls

Posted by Admin on November 25, 2007

While I’m on my way to lunch today in Deira City Center one Indian is apprehended by the mall’s security personnel in smoking in not designated area.

So to all kabayans who are heading to Dubai soon, let me remind you that there’s a law prohibiting smoking in public places here in Dubai.

Shopping malls become smoke-free last September 15, 2007, with the authority to refer smokers who flout the smoking ban to the police and municipality officials.Under the regulations set by Dubai Municipality, smoking in shopping malls is prohibited except at designated smoking areas, which have to be approved by the municipality’s Clinic and Community Health section. Malls also have to post notices and have staff on hand to inform their patrons of the smoking ban…MAg-ingat kabayan!!!

The theme “FILIPINO ACCOUNTANTS – REACHING NEW HEIGHTS” is but just fit to portray the Filipino accountant not only in the Middle East but also around the globe. We, the Filipino Accountants, do not stop growing and learning. We should keep on improving even with a different work environment, in dealing with different people, and for every unique experience that we get to have as overseas workers. We should always strive to maximize our full potential and show the world that we are Esteemed Professionals competitive enough to stand out among the rest. Thus, this conference which gathers the Filipino Accountants all over the Middle East, will surely inflame this enthusiasm within us as we all aim to exchange ideas and build new bridges with our colleagues in the profession.

As we struggle to obtain our objective of developing the Filipino accountant, the technical session topics listed below will be covered. The schedule of activities during the 2 day conference is presented in the this link.
